Cotton Extending Gains

Front month cotton futures are back down after posting new highs. Midday prices are also well above the intraday lows and the board shows 35 to 47 point gains. New crop futures are 57 points in the black near 84.5 cents. The dollar index is higher at midday. Below freezing temps extended down into Mexico overnight, delaying early cotton planting in the Rio Grande valley. The Cotlook A index was 80 points higher on Feb 15 at 93.80 cents/lb. The week’s new AWP for cotton is 70.32 cents/lb, up by 3.94 cents on the week.

Mar 21 Cotton is at 87.62, up 35 points,
May 21 Cotton is at 89.08, up 42 points
Jul 21 Cotton is at 89.88, up 47 points
Dec 21 Cotton is at 84.46, up 57 points
